Mage Guide

Hi, good .
Say hello to The Mage. This character class is one of the
biggest damage dealers in the game World of Warcraft. As you
read this WoW Mage Guide, you will begin to
see the powers this arcane caster possesses.
The Mage is a master of burst damage and area of
effect spells. Burst damage is that which delivers a large
amount of damage in a short period of time. Area of effect
spells are those that affect multiple targets at the same time.
These spells often rain down from afar, making them excellent
range fighters. Being a range fighter is a good thing for the
Mage.

Melee fighting is no place for them, as they are
able to wear only Cloth armor. A Mage must also demonstrate
escape skills in order to stay alive. Due to this, in PvP mode,
Magi are often referred to as "glass cannons." Powers such as
Presence of Mind and Arcane Power enable the Mage to deliver
terrible damage, but at the cost of health and armor.
Mage spells are elemental and ancient, so it is a
good probability that these casters will have something up
their robe sleeve that is unfamiliar, and therefore
unstoppable, to the enemy. Crowd control spells are another
specialty of the Mage, which keeps the enemy at bay. At lower
levels, Magi use Polymorph for crowd control. This spell
changes beasts and humanoids into babies. Okay, not literally,
but you get the idea.
Magi also possess the capabilities to conjure food
and drink to restore fellow group members. They may also open
portals and instantly travel to any point on Azeroth. They may
even open these doors for party members.
As you read this WoW Mage Guide, you are probably
wondering what races are able to assume the class of Mage.
Alliance races include:
Draenei
Gnomes
Humans
Allowable Horde races are:
Blood Elves
Trolls
Undead
At first, Magi can only handle staves and wands.
Later, weapon masters can teach the methods of using daggers
and one-handed swords. Alliance members learn from masters in
Darnassus, Exidar, and Stormwind. Horde members will travel to
Silvermoon and Undercity.
Magi can cast a number of spells which fit into
three schools of magic:
Arcane
Fire
Frost
The elemental spells of Fire and Frost often are
the spells that bring the pain. They are also both single
target and area of effect spells.
Though Arcane spells sometimes include damage
dealers such as Arcane Explosion, it is pure mana energy and
yields a great many utility spells. With them, a Mage may
remove curses, perform crowd control, teleport (either himself
or others), summon food and water, save mana for later use, and
a number of additional tasks that make the Mage so
desirable.
Just as with many things in life, you have to take
the good and the bad with a Mage and find the balance between
amazing damage dealing and meager defense. Use the information
in the WoW Mage Guide to help you find it.
I hope you found this WoW Mage Guide helpful.
All the best
Adam
